Those who have gone before...

25 years ago, my Grandma Houser passed away,
22 years ago, my Grandpa Fitzpatrick passed away,
15 years ago, my Grandpa Houser passed away,
13 years ago, was the "Year of Sorrow",
10 years ago, my Grandma Fitzpatrick passed away,
7 years ago, Robby's Grandma Sylvania passed away.
3 years ago, my Aunt Nelda and Aunt Jewel passed away,
1 year ago, my Merami passed away.

In honor of them all, I share you this song that I wrote in 2000,
when Grandpa Houser passed away:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Song of Sorrow
(set to the tune of "Barbra Allen")
From Irish halls to huts straw,
the wind of sorrow blows,
an’ everyone that hears its song,
knows of the cryin’.
For in the heart an’ in the ear,
 the song it goes,
and sends each one
to bended knee
 for sorrow's prayer.
For sorrow’s course must take its hold,
and the joy its wing,
for in this life
they have their place,
an’ none can change it.
For in sorrows an’ joys,
this life its made,
an’ though we plead,
an’ though we beg,
this life it flies on.
So when the wind of sorrow comes,
we know our lot,
an’ turn our hearts
 to the Lord above,
our God and King!
For in His death
He bore our pain,
on sorrow’s tree,
an’ in Him we have our hope
for today.
So now, my friends,
ye’ve heard
the song of sorrow,
an’ to thee I bid ado
until the mor-row.
How to Build a Celtic Travel Shelter...
This is not a hard build if you live near or have friends near a forest with some sort of ceder trees... First find a tree with a Y shape just a bit above head height.  Find 5 of the sturdiest looking ceder or evergreen bows and place in a circle with the tops crisis-crossing through the Y and the bottom spread out (think like a tepee) at least large enough for you to lay down in.  Weave thinner greenery covered bows through the 5 up and down bows, leaving an entrance opening fasting east if possible.   Continue waving up and down and back and forth till very little light comes through accept at the entrance.  If done correctly, this should stand about 2 to 3 years.
I built my first Celtic Travel Shelter on my Grandma's 13 acres when I was 17 after an ice storm in Poteau, OK, it stood until another ice storm 3 years later and was a favorite hiding place for Grandma's cats when I wasn't around.   I have continued to build these as needed, and next time will bring my camera and share photos as the previous builds I never thought to photograph.  They are great for getting out of the rain...one of the reasons the cats adored it!
Winds of Change...
Life is always change, always shifting on us.  Nothing ever stays the same.  This is especially true in the dusty windy season of the desert southwest.  What would I do if things truly stayed the same?  I would not have wanted to stay where I was 9 and 10 years ago, during the "year of sorrow".    Why do I call it that, and not the "year of death"?  Death is just so much part of mortal life, that the "year of sorrow" just makes more since...  Why?
10 years ago, five people close to me died in 6 months, plus my dog Wolfy died, plus my mom and and grandma were going through major health issues.  I was at the end of my ropes.  I took a knife and tried to end it all, and probably would have if two dear friends had not stopped me.  Then over the next years, I was abused by my x-boyfriends...repeatedly, as I kept going back...
Yes, I am glad the winds of change blow through all our lives.  God give us each healing, if we honestly seek it from Him...though at times it can seem slow. Today I am happily married, a missionary, and dreaming of a homestead with our own family. Today there is joy and peace in my life.  That is what I pray for all of you, my friends, His peace and joy.
Disowned ?!?
I dont know where this came from... here we are staying with some family, and there is a big old fight.  I step in and defend verbally my husband.  That turns on me... Now I am a witch, who poisoned Robby's mind, tricked him into planning to go to the Navajo (He has been going summers since 1995, I have only known him since 2004?), and I am doing dark magic.  Umm... NO!  Not only that, my Grandmother and my Mother must be witches too!  No, it is not true.    Robby stepped in and defended me after they had turned on me.  He demanded an apology, as they had not only disrespected his wife, but also a pastor's wife (my mom), and a talented RN who was no longer living to defend herself (my grandma).
That backfired.  Instead of them apologies, we were given 24 hrs to get all our stuff we wanted out of the house, and we were told that from that point on we are totally disowned.  At least we have my truck, Tsalagi, and my family still.  I hate leaving Immanuel Baptist Church, but good bye Kentucky.  Tis not safe for us here.  Maybe when things calm down we will be back.  Dine Bikeyah is still calling, and Kansas is half way there.  Onward... and back to the Gypsy Road it seems... and just when I was getting a wee bit settled in too... *La sigh!*  God help us!
Grandmother's Passing
*sobs hard*  My grandma went home to be with the Lord today.   She was the last of my grandparents.  Now all the elders are gone.  I miss her so much.  I went into my room and rubbed her lotion on my arms, for her skin always smelled of it.  It smelled like her hugs.
Alas, I wanted to be on the road again, but not for her funeral...  Fare thee well, Grandma Fitzpatrick.  Rest in peace my beloved "White Rose"...
