Ren. Faire Fun!

I took Robby to his first Ren. Faire today!  It was good to pull my old Monika of Rosenguard persona out of the trunk...as I have not used it in nearly 12 years... not that I havent gone to Ren Faires in that long, just not as my Monika persona, but my Morria an Rath Giolla one instead.  Nice change of pace.  Robby loved the faire, got himself a pirate hat, and now he is looking into pirate fests and mountain man rendezvouses, he liked the Ren Faire so much. LOL! Now at least he gets why I wanted to dress up for it, and next time he will go as a pirate so all is good...

The Arizona Renaissance Festival is one of the largest I have ever been to!  Much lager than the now closed Newman College Ren Faire, or the Great Plains Renaissance Festival (still going on), that I grew up going to in Wichita, KS. At first it was over whelming, but then it was a blast.  So many ideas both for crafting and for writing... and they even have a Celtic Cross near the Celtic Crafts and Village life area.  Perfect!  All in all, it was a blast, and for sure something Robby and I shall add to our adventures, if not yearly then quiet often.

How to Build a Celtic Travel Shelter...

This is not a hard build if you live near or have friends near a forest with some sort of ceder trees... First find a tree with a Y shape just a bit above head height.  Find 5 of the sturdiest looking ceder or evergreen bows and place in a circle with the tops crisis-crossing through the Y and the bottom spread out (think like a tepee) at least large enough for you to lay down in.  Weave thinner greenery covered bows through the 5 up and down bows, leaving an entrance opening fasting east if possible.   Continue waving up and down and back and forth till very little light comes through accept at the entrance.  If done correctly, this should stand about 2 to 3 years.

I built my first Celtic Travel Shelter on my Grandma's 13 acres when I was 17 after an ice storm in Poteau, OK, it stood until another ice storm 3 years later and was a favorite hiding place for Grandma's cats when I wasn't around.   I have continued to build these as needed, and next time will bring my camera and share photos as the previous builds I never thought to photograph.  They are great for getting out of the rain...one of the reasons the cats adored it!

Winds of Change...

"A task, a journey, this is to what I am called.
Always restless as flows the Celtic blood,
Always seeking that which I am to do.
Never sure of where the wind will blow,
Always knowing with You I will go.

My journey is my own,
Yet another You have sent,
For me to journey with.
Two restless Celtic souls,
With stories to be told.
Father, You and You alone,
Know what these journeys hold,
And what the journey-task it is,
So to you I cling, in these darkened days.
As I travel on Thy path."

Robby is to be more than just a friend...
I think I have found the one...
at last!
