Cold Car...

Brr...brrr...brr... I havent been this cold since we left Didean after the ice storm.  I am not sure if I will ever get warm again.  Let's just put it this way.  These gypsies need to find hotels that take cash, or at least a debit card...because sleeping in a car with frost in Indiana just isnt cutting it.  No place we stopped at in Louisville will take cash or debt.   And we havent seen anymore place to try yet... by next time I make this drive I will find at LEAST one that takes cash...sleeping bags, blankets and car seats just dont cut it...not with our back seat and trunk full of what little we still own...

So here I am sitting in an Indiana rest stop trying to warm up for a bit, before taking a nap for about an hour, so we can press on to the next rest stop for another hour. At least someone has free wifi near by...   Then we will drive on to mom and dads, and crash for a night and a day, before helping Dad get stuff together for Merami's surgery.

Trouble came and went...

I learned an important lesson in taking in fellow travelers, gypsies, and nomads this week.  An old friend, Rekker, whom I had not seen in some time... came through Didean this week... He thought he would come to my house and take over the safe haven... I had offered him shelter as an old friend.  But in less than a day he was causing trouble... first he hit on me, only to find out Robby and I are a couple.  Then he tried to take over running the safe house.  Then he had the nerve to start telling all of us how we were going to run Didean from then on... Thankfully Jo and the kids were out of town visiting friends for the week, or she would have tangled with him BIG time.

As it was, I had very cross words with him.  He had been told he could sleep on the floor in the living room with the mats and sleeping bags until something better could be found.  Instead, he ordered Robby out of his room, put in an air conditioner (which no one should have as the wiring in that room needs fixing, and will be worked on in 2 weeks), and invited a girl we dont know over.  That and he tried to get meds at the hospital, only to not want to wait the 5 hrs needed to get them (we later found out he abuses them).  Good riddance.  I am all for helping fellow gypies, travelers, and nomads, but they have to respect the house and the few rules we keep.  Rekker did not.  Farewell, I trust you find what you are looking for and some peace in your soul to go with it....

Meet Bella, my Cat!

Bella joined the family of gypsies at Didean today... she is a black 1/2 Persian cat, and is small enough to ride in Robby's fedora hat which I have now "stolen".  We had been seeing Bella and her siblings for a while, when we walk to the low income family diner.  Today, they were old enough to take one home!  What a purrfect Adoption Day gift Robby has gotten me.  Soon she will have a collar and her shots, and all will be well for her.  I am so happy!  At last I have my black cat!

New House and Grounds Keeper!

I signed the papers today!   The 2 story Victorian house officially becomes my "Didean", the refuge, safe haven, and shelter for travelers and subculture folks.  It is really 2 stories plus a fixable attic and a half finished basement...so LOTS of room to explore and make my own.  Who knows what adventures lay before me in this awesome place?  First off, getting it furnished and repainted.  That will be an adventure in and off its self!  SOOOOOO Excited!

Well, who should be waiting for me on the steps of Didean when I get there, than my first traveler!  Robby has come to stay for the next little bit, as a grounds keeper for Didean, and someone to keep an eye on it when I am not there.  Awesome!   Also, whew... He is such an over sized, bald, teddy bear... I could never fall for him.  After all he is 13 years my elder, and just NOT my type.  LOL!  Good to have grounds keep I can trust, though.

I think I found it...

I think I found it today... I had today off, and went hunting for my forever home.  I had pulled up about 10 house in my price range.  5 of them were too bad in disrepair.  2 had sold between when I looked and we went hunting, and that left 3 to chose from... The one I am leaning towards for my "Didean" is a 2 story with basement and attic that needs a stair way rebuilt.  Time will only tell if I get her... my dream house.

Didean Ranch...

June 7th, 2005, that is the day the idea for "Didean Ranch" (working title) was born. What does Didean mean?   Nothing less than safe haven, shelter, and refuge!  And that is what this homestead or homestead community will be.  Though we (my friends and I) own not an inch of land, and not one stone is in place, "Didean Ranch" is a reality in the hearts of those who love the ranch.

Our plans our progressing well, though slowly.  I found good info at the library, plus some in my own shelf.  "Back to the Basic's" and "Homesteading" by readers digest are great books, and very helpful. We are unsure if to make it a mini village or just individual ranches, but what ever we do... it will be an adventure.  May haps this is the birth of something a Gypsy Goth Gal could settle at!
